KNOX — Frank A. Bissell Jr., 82, passed away on April 21, 2016, at his home in Knox. He was born July 10, 1933, in Searsport, the son of Frank and Teresa (White) Bissell Sr.

Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1951 to 1954. He was a paratrooper in Korea in the 187th Airborne and in the United States, part of the 11th Airborne. He was part of the Rakkasans and had 68 jumps during his career. He worked as a mason contractor and was a part-time ambulance attendant, Waldo County deputy, worked ata Belfast Police Department and was a volunteer of the Belfast Fire Department.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Gordon and Harold Bissell; and his close friend, Raymond Grenier. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Linda (Bailey) Bissell of Knox; his son, Tom Bissell Sr. and his wife, Diane, of Morrill; his sister, Dottie Wright and her husband, Ronnie, of Hope; his grandchildren, Melissa Curry and T.J. Bissell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave. in Belfast. Interment will be held privately at Gordon Cemetery in Searsport.
