HOPE — Flora Alberta Lowberg, 79, formerly of Rockport, died of a stroke Oct. 19, 2012, at Pen Bay Medical Center. She died peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Rockport Jan. 5, 1933, she was the daughter of Alphonso and Edith M. (Frost) Eaton. Growing up in Rockport, Flo attended schools there and married Robert Lowberg on Feb. 5, 1956.

In the 1970s, Bob and Flo opened Flo's Lighthouse Restaurant on Route 90 in Rockport, which they operated for several years. In 1975, she went to work at the Camden Heath Care Center in Camden, where she was employed for 26 years as a certified nurse's aid. Flo was known as a "work-a-holic" and always kept very busy. When her husband was operating his lobsterboat, Flo went to haul with him, filling bait bags and helping him haul the traps.

Flo will be remembered for her great sense of humor, her sociability and her wide circle of friends.

She felt God's call on her life 15 years ago, and enjoyed studying the Bible with her son, Alan. Flo was detailed oriented and set her wooden block calendar to the "19th" before she went to bed.

Her last words were "A-men, thank-you God."

Flo was a girly-girl, amassing a large doll collection over her lifetime. She liked dainty things and jewelry, but never had many occasions to wear it. She was a consummate wife and mother and was greatly interested in her family genealogy.

Surviving are her five children, Arthur Lowberg and his wife, Sue, of Raymond, Donald Lowberg and his wife, Ada, of Waldoboro, Alan Lowberg of Hope, Ronner Ross and her husband, Mark, of Warren, and Robert W. Lowberg and his partner, Patty, of Warren; her brothers and sisters, Kathleen Robbins of Owls Head, Charles Eaton and wife, Kathy, of Lincolnville, Albert Eaton and his wife, Hazel, of Hope, Richard Eaton and his wife, Cheryl, of Rockland, Robert Eaton and wife, Sue, of Arizona, and David Eaton and his wife, Kathy, of Florida; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lowberg, who died Nov. 5, 2011.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Oct. 24 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Long Funeral Home, 9 Mountain St. in Camden. The graveside service will be held Thursday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. at Seaview Cemetery, Russell Avenue in Rockport with the Rev. George Hodgkins officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to Camden First Aid Association, P.O. Box 368, Camden, ME 04843.
