Faith Elizabeth (Ludwig) Hart, obituary

HOPE — Faith Elizabeth Hart, 79, a lifelong resident of Hope, passed away Oct. 14, 2012, with her family by her side at home. Born in Camden July 12, 1933, she was the daughter of Raymond E. and Ellen (Thurlow) Ludwig. She was a graduate of Camden High School Class of 1951 and Husson College Class of 1952. She married Obed Arthur Hart of Hope June 22, 1952, at the Hope Community Church.

Faith was employed by the town of Hope for 25 years as tax collector and 20 years as deputy town clerk. Her memberships included the Hope Historical Society, where she served as treasurer since 1989; the Mid-Coast Ladies Club; Hope Grange; Ocean View Chapter #20 Order of the Eastern Star; the Sunshine Club of Anah Shrine; Hobbs Pond Association; the RFD Club; and the Hatchet Mountain Snowmobile Club.

Her hobbies included reading, gardening, canning, and doing crossword puzzles. Faith and Obed enjoyed traveling and took several ocean cruises and three trips to Columbia, South America.

Surviving is her husband; three sons, Dan Hart and his wife, Julie, of Bethel, Paul Hart and his partner, Sharon Hanley, of Rockport, and Andrew Hart and his wife, Sherri, of Rockport; seven grandchildren, Lauren Hart and Lindsay Hart, both of Boston, Joshua Hart of Portland, Casey Hart of Gorham, and Christopher Hart, Kayla Hart and Connor Hart, all of Rockport; a sister, Ann Leadbetter and her husband, Ron, of Hope; her step-mother, Evelyn Ludwig of Camden; a cousin, Muriel Pinkham of Thomaston; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. at the John Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Peg Moser officiating. Interment will be private in the Hope Grove Cemetery in Hope.
