Fast-moving thunderstorms sent area firefighters into action from Cushing to Lincolnville. In Cushing, a home on Osprey Lane had been been struck by lightning, causing a fire.

In Thomaston, a home on Beechwood Street was likewise hit by lightning, with firefighters called to the scene.

And in Lincolnville, a tree on High Street was hit by lightning, and on fire.

In Camden, wires were arcing near the Snow Bowl, and firefighters responded to that. At the same time, other calls were being received for wires down and smoke alarms in different towns.

The storm, according to the National Weather Service, was part of a cold front approaching from the west.

Severe storms have been in the forecast, and are expected to move off the coast on Wednesday.
