BELFAST - Eric Lee York, 58, of Belfast, died unexpectedly in an accident on Nov. 8, 2016, at his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1958, in Belfast, the son of Burton and Maxine (Moody) York.

Eric attended Belfast schools, graduating Class of 1976 from Belfast Area High School. He went on to attend community college in Philadelphia, at Worcester Polytech in Massachusetts and graduated with a degree in engineering from University of Maine in 1989.

Eric worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a marine engineer until 1990; Hinckley Yachts until 1992; and then spent the rest of his time working from home doing solar engineering.

Eric enjoyed building computers and had recently invented a solar radio. He loved the outdoors, including camping, boating and snowmobiling. He died preparing his trail for hunting and snowmobiling. His family will remember him as a hardworking, devoted family man who looked forward to yearly camping and snowmobiling trips he planned for his family.

He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Elaine in 1978. Eric is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Beth (Hillman) York of Belfast; their children, Nicholas York and his wife, Eileen, of Howland, Ericka York and her fiancé, Adam Weymouth, of Morrill, and Morgan York of Searsport; his siblings, Elden of Florida, Winston of Searsport, Gary of Waldo, Michael and his wife, Becky, of Orrington, and Walter of Belfast; his grandson, Aaron; his nieces and nephews, Sara, Angela, Christopher, Jonathan, Brandon, Kasidee, Jackson and Zachariah; and his cat, Spazz.

Friends and family are invited to gather for visiting hours on Friday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, where a funeral service will follow on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m.
