Elizabeth M. Mosher, 93, passed away at the Country Manor Nursing Home in Coopers Mills on Saturday, June 28, 2014, after a short illness. She was born in Montreal, Canada, on Oct. 15, 1920, the daughter of Erwin A. and A. Bertha (Laws) Adams.

Elizabeth graduated from Natick High School in Natick, Mass., in 1937 and later graduated from Miss Michaud’s Secretarial School in 1938. She moved to Northport in 1947 and married Hugh R. Mosher in 1950 and together they moved to Belfast. Elizabeth began her career working at Depositors Trust, and then worked as a secretary at Penobscot Poultry and eventually worked for the law offices of Eaton, Glass and Marsano, before retiring. After retirement she spent the next 30 years working on town records and family histories as she had inquires from all over the United States. She was nominated for the Jefferson Award in 1991 for her work. Elizabeth worked on vital records at the Penobscot Marine Museum for many years. She also loved to work in her flowers gardens. Elizabeth and her husband traveled all over the state of Maine. She was an avid artist as some of her paintings are placed around the community.

Elizabeth is survived by two sons, John Mosher and his wife, Barbara, of Augusta, and Kenneth “Kenny” Mosher of The Villages, Fla.; a step-daughter, Letitia Downer and her husband, Allen, of Thorndike; and a step-son, Ralph Mosher and his wife, Lois, of South Windsor, Conn.; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Mosher of Lincolnville, Mark Mosher of Plantation Fla., Scott Mosher of Melbourne, Fla., Ken Mosher Jr. of Ocklawha, Fla., Donald Mosher of Manahawkin, N.J. and Kevin Mosher of Sitka, Alaska; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Alice Adams of New Hampshire.

Along with her parents, Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband; her sister, Dorothy M. Caswell; her brother, Donald A. Adams; and her special dog, Lady Bug.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Country Manor Nursing Home and Hospice for the loving care that they gave her, as well as help and support given the family. She told how much she loved her caregivers.

A private service will be held for the family.
