OWLS HEAD — Edward “Ted” Ross, 71, life-long resident of Owls Head, died peacefully, July 9, 2015, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport.

Born in Owls Head on Aug. 8, 1943, he was the son of Walter and Amanda Hoyt Ross. Educated locally, he was a 1961 graduate of Rockland High School.

Following high school, Ted worked for the State News Company in Rockland. He worked for that company for over 22 years, continuing as manager even after Sid Siegel sold the business.

Later in life, Ted kept busy during his retirement, owning a caretaking and lawn mowing business. For many years he used his fastidious nature to keep the grounds of many local homes immaculate.

He was an active member of the Owls Head Baptist Church.

Ted's warm gregarious personality was greatly appreciated by his many friends.

Predeceased by his parents; and three brothers, Charles Ross, Peter Ross and Jon Ross; Ted is survived by a brother, Clifton Ross of Owls Head; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Ross-Wooster and Ruth Ross, both of Owls Head; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside celebration of life will be held Wednesday, July 15 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery in Owls Head. The Rev. Paul Munro will officiate.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.
