CUSHING — Edward "Eddie Bill" Vinal, 82, passed away peacefully Jan. 21, 2016, in Camden with his loving family by his side. Eddie was born at the Lucette in Thomaston on March 11, 1933, to parents William Vinal and Marian F. Clark Vinal.

Eddie attended Thomaston schools and graduated from Thomaston High School in the Class of 1931.

Ed met the love of his life, Irene Penney, and they were married in 1954.

Ed chose to work in the trucking/transportation industry all his life, starting off in the family's business - Vinal's Dairy in Thomaston, then he worked many years driving a cement truck for Martin-Marietta (Dragon Cement). After the cement company closed, he worked driving for Paulson Brothers of St. George, as well as Beaver Stinson, ending his career driving for R.W. Glidden of Waldoboro. Ed retired in 2008.

Ed's favorite past-times were boating, driving his "pristine" Harley Davidson motorcycle, and he also enjoyed welding from time to time. Ed was a member of the Owls Head Transportation Museum and a member of the Rockland Elks.

Ed was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Joanne Young and Jeanne Staples; along with a nephew, Richard "Ricky" Young.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Irene A. Vinal; a nephew, Donald Young and his wife, Lisa; and a great-nephew, Alec Young, all of Cushing; and brother–in-law, Larry Staples of Thomaston; as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family has chosen to honor Ed's life privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Ed's memory be sent to Friends of Cushing Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 20, Cushing, ME 04563.
