APPLETON — Firefighters from area towns are flighting a house fire on Route 105 in Appleton, near the St. George River.
A wire is down across the road, and heavy rain and wind is making conditions even more difficult for the firefighters to attack. A Central Maine Power representative is on scene to shut off the line.
The call came in to Knox County Regional Communications Center at 5:37, Oct. 25, as Appleton, Hope, Lincolnville, Union and Washington fire departments scrambled to respond.
Residents a few miles away could see the fire’s glow through the woods.
Firefighters are refilling tanks at Robbins Lumber, in Searsmont.
