ROCKLAND — Dorothy A. Robinson, 89, passed away Oct. 6, 2015, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, after sudden heart failure, surrounded by family members.

Dorothy was born in Rockland at her family home on Washington Street, to Norman P. and Ursula Reynolds Richards on July 4, 1926. She married the one and only love of her life, Crawford L. Robinson Sr. on June 8, 1948. Dorothy was educated in Rockland schools and, at the time of her death, resided at exactly the same property location where her elementary school once stood. She worked many years at National Sea Products, formerly located in Rockland, in order to supplement the household income to provide a good life for her family and assist her husband in that goal.

In later years, Dorothy's mind had slowly but progressively regressed to remembering only the far past life events due to Alzheimers/dementia. However, even to the end, she told of and vividly recalled the day this handsome man at work that was giving her the eye, approached her and asked her out on a movie date. She complied, in spite of her shy inner self, and it was off to the races with a marriage that began on June 8, 1948 and only ended upon the death of her beloved Crawford on Jan. 17, 2001.

Dorothy always put family first, and taught them that honesty and integrity matter. Butterflies were much adored by Dorothy. Sometimes, along with her husband, she was able to capture a monarch and watch it grow in a jar, before setting it free on its journey southward. We like to think that now, or in the future, Dorothy will be reunited with the love of her life, walking down a garden path, surrounded by colorful butterflies and beautiful flowers; like those she often wore in her hair as a younger woman.

In addition to her beloved husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Norma, Grace, Mabel and Wilberta. She is survived by two younger sisters, Shirley Henley of Rockland and Doris Black of South Thomaston; three children, Brenda A. Wallace and her husband, Dana, of Friendship, Sharon M. Miller and her husband, Larry, of Waldoboro, and Crawford L. Robinson Jr of Rockland; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sincere apologies to any family members not specifically mentioned in this obituary. That you were a part of her life and her life a part of yours is the important factor.

Per Dorothy's request, there will be no funeral services. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 23 at 2 p.m. at Rockville Cemetery on Route 17 in Rockport, where Dorothy's remains will be interred beside the man that she has dreamed of being reunited with for the past nearly 15 years. Bradley Maddock will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation to a charity of one's choice, with a preference toward animal care and/or shelter.

Dorothy's family is being assisted by Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.
