APPLETON — Dorothy Gushee MacIntosh, 90, widow of William MacIntosh, died Nov. 10, 2012, at Glen Ridge Nursing Home in Augusta. Born in Appleton Feb, 17, 1922, she was the daughter of Daniel A. and Blanche (Perry) Gushee. She attended school in Appleton and was valedictorian of Appleton High School, Class of 1939. She married William MacIntosh in Appleton in 1939.

For many years, Mr. and Mrs. MacIntosh worked together as poultry farmers. Dorothy also worked for 15 years at the Waldo Shoe Company in Belfast. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and enjoyed sewing, reading, doing crossword puzzles and playing Beano.

Surviving are her three children, Mary J. Parra and her husband, Edward, of Appleton, Daniel MacIntosh and his wife of California, and Linda MacIntosh of Warren; nine grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William MacIntosh, who died in 1988; her brother, Raymond E. Gushee; and her daughter-in-law, Beatrice MacIntosh.

A graveside service will be held Friday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Appleton with the Rev. Linda Campbell Marshall officiating. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Appleton Fire Dept., c/o Appleton Town Office, 2915 Sennebec Road, Appleton, ME 04862.
