UNITY — Darryl D. Thomas, 79, of Unity, passed away on Aug. 14, 2016, at home, after an extended illness, with loving family by his side. He was born July 30, 1937, in Waterville, the son of Salieum Thomas and Shirley (Durgin) Thomas.

Darryl graduated from Portland High School in 1955 and joined the Air Force. He worked his entire life in sales. He retired from Bangor Wholesale due to illness.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and golfed with his special threesome in Connecticut as well as Maine. He was proud to get the first hole-in-one at Sugarloaf golf club on Sept. 6, 1986. He was very active in the Masons and Sphinx Scottish Rite in Connecticut.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Amber Lea (McMannus) Thomas; two daughters, Lisa (Thomas) Reimer and Heather (Thomas) Artus; one son, Michael Ellis; six grandchildren, Josh Ellis, April DelGreco, Noah and Sadie Reimer, and Patrick and Michael Sheehy; and two great-grandchildren, Sadie and Jana. He also leaves behind six sisters, Mona Buttons (Thomas) and her husband, Skip, Rebecca (Thomas) Bennett, Judy Gagne Wright and her husband, Dick, Dottie Fontaine (Greenwood) and her husband, Tom, Diane Greenwood and Lori Thomas; and two brothers, Richie Greenwood and his wife, Jeanne, and Wadeah Thomas.

Darryl requested no services, but a celebration of his life will be held at his home on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 1 p.m.
