Curtis Lee Young, 74, passed away with his family by his side at home in Mechanic Falls on August 26, 2017. Curtis was born on December 19, 1942 to Carl Young and Agnes Davis Young.

Curtis attended Cushing Grade School and graduated from Thomaston High School and the Maine Vocational Technical Institute in South Portland.

He enlisted in the Army National Guard for a period of 7 years and achieved the rank of SSGT/Staff Sergeant. He was also in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves for 5 years where he earned ribbons for meritorious service.

Curtis worked at various machine shops in Southern and Central Maine, 13 ½ years at Martin Marietta Cement Plant, and he lobstered aboard the "Tina Jean" out of Cushing.

He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and restoring his 1961 Ford Starliner. He served on the Town of Cushing Tax Appeal Board, was a member of the Warren Snowmobile Club, and was a member, Trustee, Deacon, and Capital Funds Drive Chair of the Friendship Advent Christian Church.

Curtis is predeceased by his parents, Carl G. and Agnes Davis Young.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Sukeforth) Young of Mechanic Falls, ME, daughters Tina Ferrill and husband Gary of Clifton, ME, Jean Beal and husband Merle of Westfield, MA, son Darrell Young and wife Valerie of Mechanic Falls, ME, sister Carla Myrick and husband Mike of Cushing, ME, grandchildren Kyle Ferrill and wife Katharine, Travis Ferrill and wife Katie, Laine Ferrill, Laura Beal, Rebekah Beal, Elizabeth Young and Isaac Young, great grandson Asher Ferrill, many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and Uncle Ken Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Advent Christian Church, 19 Cushing Road in Friendship, with Rev. Clayton Blackstone officiating.
