Lincolnville — Craig Malcolm Upton, 64, passed away peacefully in his sleep March 24, 2014 at home. In his last few days, Craig was surrounded by his wife and children, who watched over him and made him as comfortable as possible.

Born in Camden Jan. 28, 1950, he was the son of the late Malcolm "Jake" and Barbara (McKenney) Upton.

Craig grew up in Camden and was educated in local schools. He was a 1968 graduate of Camden-Rockport High School. A skilled carpenter by trade, he worked extensively in Maine, with a few years in Oregon during the 1970s.

On April 26, 1980, he married Rosanne McGowan of Camden, and in 1981 they moved to Lincolnville to start a family.

Craig enjoyed tinkering and was known for his craftsmanship and proficiency in many areas. An avid Patriots and Nascar fan, he never missed a game or race. He also liked the Red Sox, playing golf, cooking, good food and being with family. He particularly loved his time as "Papa" to his granddaughter, Vivian. He took pride in many things: his children, his lawn and his Mustang Cobra.

He is survived by his wife, Rosanne, of 34 years; his three children, Michelle Upton and her partner, David Hilt, of Union, Kyle Upton and his wife, Beth, of Camden, and Aaron Upton of Lincolnville; one grandchild, Vivian Upton; his special aunt, Beverly (Upton) Cummings of Camden; and many in-laws and cousins, as well as many nieces and nephews whom lovingly knew him as "Uncle Grump."

A time of gathering and luncheon for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 5 at 1 p.m. at Lincolnville Center School’ Walsh Common. Join in sharing memories, photos, and stories.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a scholarship fund set up for his granddaughter is appreciated. Information will be available at the memorial.

Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home in Belfast.
