Children’s House Montessori brings all species to Camden, holds open house April 30

On Friday, April 15, Children’s House Montessori invited parents and friends for a celebration of two annual events: its Cultural Fair and the All Species Parade. Classrooms displayed a myriad of artwork and projects that were the culmination of the school’s study unit on Europe. Displays ranged from a Venetian gondola to pictures done in the style of artist Anton Gaudi amd Henri Matisse to models of the Eifel Tower and a monastery.

Following the fair, children and guests walked downtown for the All Species Parade that honors Earth Day and the responsibility that all people have to the creatures of the planet. At the conclusion of the parade, everyone gathered on the school playground to sing songs.

The school is also holding an open house, Saturday, April 30, for prospective students from 10 a.m. to noon. The public is invited to attend, to take tours, enjoy refreshments, and have the opportunity to visit classrooms where teachers will be present to answer questions. Visiting children will also be able to explore classroom materials to sample some activities. Children’s House current serves children from 18 months through 10 years and is at 58 Elm St., Camden.

Beginning next September, the school is excited to announce that it will expand its elementary program to include Grades 4-6. Anyone interested in learning more is encouraged to visit or contact the school at 236-2911 or at www.camdenmontessori.org. The program will be open to considering new students regardless of whether they have prior Montessori experience.
