ROCKPORT — Cheryl Ann (Steykal) Brimson passed away on May 1, 2017, in Warren, due to injuries suffered in a car accident involving multiple vehicles. Born June 23, 1950, she was 66 at the time of her death.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years, John David Brimson, who was with her when she passed; a sister, Barbara Knight of Raleigh, N.C.; her nephew, Grady Knight (Ana Marie); her nieces, Olivia, 6, and Isabella, 9; a cousin, Lynne Bowser of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and her children and grandchildren, Mathew,(Pam) Megan, (Bill) Katelyn, Matthew Jr, Gracie, Addison, and Aidan.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she moved to Dunedin, Fla., where she graduated from Dunedin High School and went to St. Petersburg College, where she graduated with an associates degree in accounting. She met her future husband, John, after becoming interested in the sport of fencing and competed in tournaments during her last year of college. They married on Aug. 2, 1969.

She was a consummate "foodie" and was a talented amateur chef who liked to develop her own unique recipes. Often she would make things just to give to friends. She enjoyed road trips, sailing, downhill skiing, horses, fly fishing and nature. Cheryl worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 36 years in the Tampa Postal District, as a clerk, where she won the prestigious Ben Franklin Award. The last 23 years she was a mailing requirements specialist in periodicals and non-profit mailings and was detailed to Washington, D.C., after 9/11.

After retiring in 2009, she and her husband moved from Clearwater, Fla., to Rockport, Maine, where they had been vacationing for 27 years.

She was a gentle and generous person who will be missed by all who knew her. The family has chosen to honor Cheryl's life privately with a memorial at sea, which will be held at a place and date convenient for the family.

The family request that donations in Cheryl's memory be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Hall's of Thomaston has care of the arrangements.
