Catherine L. Widdecombe, obituary

SOUTH THOMASTON – Catherine L. Widdecombe, 81, died peacefully, surrounded by her children, Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at her daughter's home, following a period of declining health.

Born in Spruce Head, December 18, 1935, she was the daughter of William Victor and Bertha Alice Callahan Dennison. Educated locally she was a 1955 graduate of St. George High School.
On September 15, 1956 Cass married Earl F. Widdecombe in Rockland. For many years she was a homemaker, before taking a job with Oakside Video in South Thomaston. Later she worked at Shore Village Nursing Home in Rockland until retiring.

Predeceased by her husband; her sons, Timothy Wayne and Terry Lee; her longtime companion Bob McLaughlin; three brothers, two sisters; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Cass is survived by her children, Tod D. and Heidi of South Thomaston, Shawna M. and Albert of Spruce Head, Arthur of Florida; her sisters, Gladys Dennison of St. George, Ada Toto of Everett, MA; her brother, Alfred Butler and his wife Frances of Camden; a sister-in-law Lillian Widdecombe of Rockland; seven grandchildren, Eric, Anne, Bridget, Brianna, Kayla, Tailynne, Krysten; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 14, 2017 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland, where a memorial service with a time of sharing will be held at 7:00 p.m.
