BELFAST — The Belfast Maskers and Traci's Diner are teaming up for an evening of dinner and comedy. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m., followed by the Maskers' performance of the sitcom pilot, The Maine Dish.

The Maine Dish was written by a local screenwriter, Eddie Adelman. The setting is a fictional diner in Midcoast Maine, inhabited by some very quirky and sketchy characters.

The pilot, originally written in 2004, was a top 10 finalist on the Bravo Network's reality series, "Situation: Comedy," where Adelman appeared as one of the screenwriters pitching the series to a panel of industry judges. It was pitched as "Cheers meets Northern Exposure." The show was eventually optioned by NBC.

The Maskers' live adaptation is being directed by Erica Rubin Irish, along with Adelman. Makaila Redden and Scott Anthony Smith appear in the lead roles of two mid-westerners who have just won the diner by virtue of essays they submitted to the previous owners.

Other cast members include local actors Amy Bird, Calvin Redden, Marilyn Nichols, Mark Durbin, Andre Blanchard, Bob Nichols, Sunny Kirkham and Chris White. Patricia Saucier is the stage manager.

The dates of the dinner/performance are May 13, 14, 20, 21. Due to the venue, seating is very limited. Tickets are $40 per person and include both the dinner and show. For information about reservations call 207-536-9123 or email Belfast Maskers at info@belfastmaskers.com.
