BELFAST — A China man remains behind bars Thursday afternoon after allegedly ramming his vehicle into that of his former girlfriend, according to Detective Bryan Cunningham of the Belfast Police Department.

David J. Morin, 32, of China, was arrested Tuesday after a confrontation with his ex at the intersection of Church and Market streets in Belfast. Cunningham said Morin "ran right into the side" of the woman's vehicle. "She pulled ahead a little and he hit her again," he said.

Both Morin and the victim then left the scene. The incident was reported after she returned home.

Morin was located a short time later by deputies of the Waldo County Sheriff's Department, though he did not go willingly.

"He ended up with charges from the Sheriff's Department too," said Cunningham, including refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

Morin was equally uncooperative at Waldo County Jail, Cunningham said.

"He assaulted the jail staff, spitting and elbowing someone," said Cunningham.

The Sheriff's Department also charged Morin with operating under the influence and failure to stop at a stop sign.

The Belfast Police Department brought charges of aggravated reckless conduct, domestic violence assault and driving to endanger against Morin.
