APPLETON — Ariel Mae Linscott, 92, passed away peacefully April 18, 2013, at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. She was born Sept. 5, 1920, the daughter of John (Raymond) and Ethel Clark Danforth of Union.

Ariel graduated from Union High School, and after graduation, worked at the Union Sanatorium. She later met, then married, Richard Linscott Oct. 13, 1945, and they made their home in Burkettville. During these years she worked at the blueberry factory in Union and the Medomak canning factory in Waldoboro.

She enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, canning andfreezing her own vegetables, sewing and crafts, and putting puzzles together every night. On Wednesday nights, for many years, she enjoyed supper with her daughters and putting puzzles together. Ariel enjoyed being with her family on any holiday, for any reunion with family, like birthdays and anniversaries, and it was always a time to enjoy. She joined the Seven Tree Grange in Union in 1935, and was a lifetime member of the Medomak Valley Grange in Burkettville.

Ariel enjoyed traveling. She traveled to Washington, D.C., with Grange members to visit the National Grange Headquarters. Ariel traveled to the Amish Country of Pennsylvania and to Bermuda with her friend, Sylvia Deihl, and to Florida and Canada with her family. Ariel will be sadly missed by her family.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Richard Linscott; and by her brother, Arnold Danforth. She is survived by her daughters, Helen Grinnell and her husband, Edward, of Warren, Marilyn Worcester and her husband, Rex, of Winchester, N.H., and Sharon Blake and her husband, James, of Washington; her son, Lloyd Linscott and his wife, Beth, of Appleton; her granddaughters, Katherine Miller and her husband, Jamie, of Union, Susan Simmons and her husband, Adam, of Union, Tara Buckley and her husband, Jeremy, of Winchester, N.H., Shanna Castner and her husband, Gary, of Washington, Darci Linscott and her fiancée, Mark, of Washington, Lauren Linscott of Appleton and Danika Linscott of Appleton; her grandsons, Ryan Worcester and his wife, Stephanie, of Winchester, N.H., and Richard Linscott of Appleton; her great-grandchildren, Matthew and Michael Simmons of Union, Gavin and Ariel Castner of Washington, Isaac and Isabella Buckley of Winchester, N.H., and Alex and Jacob Worcester; and step-great-grandchild Ryan Kellogg of Winchester, N.H. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces, and her special companion, her cat, Blackie.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 27, at 1 p.m. at the Miller Cemetery in Burkettville with the Rev. Robert Dorr officiating. There will be a reception to follow the service at Ariel's home.
