Annie Hasselgren named third Head of Riley School

ROCKPORT — “The Riley School, an independent, progressive institution dedicated to serving the children of Midcoast Maine for more than 50 years, proudly announces the selection of Annie Hasselgren as its third Head of School, effective July 1, 2024,” said The Riley School, in a news release.

Hasselgren brings to the Riley School a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to fostering inclusive, child-centered learning environments, according to the release.

“With nearly 20 years of experience in education, communications, and marketing, Annie's appointment marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the Riley School, while honoring the foundational, progressive education programs that have shaped its legacy over the past 51 years,” said Riley School.

Before joining the Riley School, Hasselgren served as the Director of Enrollment Management, Marketing & Financial Aid at The Country School in Easton, Maryland, where she led strategic initiatives to enhance enrollment and community outreach. Her tenure at The Country School, characterized by innovative strategies and collaborative leadership, reflects her dedication to advancing the mission and values of progressive education. For the past year, Hasselgren has been consulting with schools in institutional advancement and how to effectively position themselves to meet goals in the areas of enrollment, fundraising, marketing, communications, and strategic planning.

Hasselgren also harbors a passion for fostering belonging, diversity, equity, and inclusion, which is evident through her service on The Country School’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

“Her commitment to ensuring every child feels a sense of belonging aligns seamlessly with the Riley School's individualized approach, which emphasizes holistic education and the cultivation of compassionate, critical thinkers,” said the school. “Annie’s extensive experience positions her well to lead the Riley School community in its enduring commitment to nurturing lifelong learners who are empowered to make positive contributions to the world.”
