WEST ROCKPORT — Alayne E. Saltzman, 80, died peacefully August 27, 2014, at home, with her loving family at her side following a long illness.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 9, 1934, she was the daughter of Irving and Lucy Ruben Spertell. She was educated and raised in New York, residing there most of her life, until moving to Maine in 2011.

Since 1972, she owned and operated an employment agency in Manhattan.

Alayne is survived by her three daughters, Mara Cerqueira of Greenbush, Robin Gordon of West Rockport and Michele Hutchinson of Forest Hills, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Roni Etheridge of White Cloud, Mich., and Alex Jaloza and Samantha Jaloza, both of Forest Hills, N.Y.; as well as her baby, Gigi, her pet Yorkie.

Alayne will be laid to rest beside her husband at the New Montefiore Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y. A memorial gathering in Maine will be announced at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home
