The first public supper of 2018 will be held at the John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John Street, on March 3 at 5:30 pm.  The popular monthly event attracts a wide variety of diners: young and old, singles and groups, locals and visitors.  The cost is $9 for adults, $5 for children under age 13.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry.

If a group of people wish to reserve space together, a single member of the group may come early and pay for the group.  All reserved groups will be assigned seats rather than selecting their own.

The food is good old New England style served family style at long tables where friends meet and strangers become acquainted.  Saturday baked beans and sliced ham plus warm rolls are the staples of the menu, while the other items vary according to what items the volunteer cooks prepare.  Typically there will be clam and corn casseroles, chicken, ham and ground beef dishes plus vegetarian options.  Some of the variety of salads are main courses in themselves and include beets, greens, potato, jelled, and the popular jello dishes. Then there are the pies: mincemeat, pecan, apple, lemon, cherry, blueberry, apple and custard, to name a few.

The supper is a great spot to eat before heading on to Saturday evening activities.  We look forward to seeing you Saturday night.
