How many female chimney sweeps do you suppose are out there? I had one that was with me for four years and as far as we could tell, she was the only female sweep in the state of Maine.

The customers loved her. The men for her obvious charms, but the ladies were appreciative because I think they were unthreatened by this gentle woman in their home. We at Maine Chimney aren’t very intimidating on our worst days!

The best lady sweep in the country hands down is Renee Brigman,  She works harder than most men teaching and running her chimney businesses

I think the word “tomboy” comes to mind describing the perfect female chimney sweep as man handling ladders is the toughest part of the job, yet is why it pays so well.

Of course I’m not advertising for a female apprentice chimney sweep which is what I’d wish, I’m just reminiscing the days when I could advertise for the employees I think best for my customers and company.
