Rockport — “Kitten Season” is the time of year when cats give birth, flooding animal shelters and rescue groups across the nation with homeless litters. Kitten season really covers three seasons: starting in spring, peaking in summer and ending in fall.

You are cordially invited to our “Kitten Shower” to help us stock our shelves and find foster homes for the wee ones.

Our wish list includes scoopable litter, wet food, kitten milk replacement formula, baby bottles and replacement nipples, fleece and baby blankets, paper towels, microwaveable warming discs, Purina kitten chow, Clorox wipes, cat toys and monetary donations. So please come and bring a gift to support the little ones.

We also need caring families to help foster kittens in loving homes until they are old enough for adoption. The Center depends on private donations and gifts for more than half of the funds required annually to run the Center.

The Kitten Shower being held on Saturday, April 18, will take place at 146 Camden Street, Rockport from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. Refreshments will be served and we’ll be playing some fun games too!

The event aims to promote fostering and adoptions of kittens, raise awareness of the plight of cats in animal care facilities heightened during “kitten season”, and to encourage the spay/neutering of all pets.

Fees for all cat and kitten adoptions are waived. This is part of P.A.W.S.’ Every Cat Matters program that was launched this year. For more information about the program visit www.pawsadoption.org.
