Democratic and Republican candidates for Maine Senate District 12 will debate campaign issues from 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday October 1 in the Lecture Hall at Camden Hills Regional High School.  The event is sponsored by Courier Publications. 

The Democratic candidate is Dave Miramant of Camden, former selectman and former Maine House member and colleague of retiring Democratic Senator Ed Mazurek, whom he wishes to succeed as senator for most of Knox County.  Senate District 12 represents the entire county except the Town of Washington.

During his campaign, Miramant is able to draw upon his experience managing or owning a number of businesses in the Maine tourism industry, serving on the Natural Resources Committee in the Maine House of Representatives and his years as a commercial airline captain in Maine and internationally.  He is accustomed to making policy decisions based on facts not ideology and committed to and capable of the research that requires.  He also has a history of bringing people together and the resolve to continue doing that in the legislature. 

Questions for the candidates will come from voters via Courier Publications.  During the event, additional questions in writing may be given to the moderator, who will ask them if time permits.
