The Study Hall is now offering College Counseling with Dr. Mary Smyth. Mary has been teaching, coaching SAT prep, and tutoring students in the local schools for 15 years.  She currently is a math teacher and advisor at Watershed School, a private high school in Camden, Maine.

Mary is an expert on trends in SAT scores, college admissions and financial aid and avidly tracks the numbers.  She has extensive experience helping students prepare, apply and find their matches, academically and financially.

Mary graduated from Smith College with a degree in Biochemistry and went on to the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.  She practiced as a pediatrician for a time and raised two boys in Rockport, Maine.  When the boys were young she began volunteering in the local schools, and then took up her new career teaching math and test prep and tutoring all high school subjects.

“Helping others with the knowledge I’ve gained,” is what Mary is interested in doing.  One of her own sons is now graduated from Worcester Polytech and the other is a junior at Amherst College.   “I know the college application process from the inside out, and I want to share my tips for success with parents and students who don’t have the time to invest like I have.”
