Candidate speakers will be featured at the Tuesday September 9 meeting of the Knox County Democrats.  The first will be Bath City Councilman David Sinclair, who is running for district attorney in Maine Prosecutorial District 6, which covers Knox, Waldo, Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties.

Sinclair will speak about his focus on reducing recidivism and his support for the Restorative Justice Project of the Midcoast and other approaches that lead to better outcomes for the convicted and lower costs for the state.  He will take questions following his remarks.

The second guest will be former Maine House member Dave Miramant of Camden, candidate now for Maine Senate District 12, which represents all of Knox County except the Town of Washington.

Miramant will report on issues voters bring up to him as he campaigns door-to-door, the work we need to do if we elect a team that will work together in Augusta and the endorsements he has received so far.  He will also outline his ideas for creating and supporting job growth here in Knox County.  Finally, he will encourage questions from the audience around issues they feel are important.

The evening will begin with a potluck supper from 6-7 p.m. for those who wish to bring a salad, beverage or main dish.  A microwave is available.  Both guests plan to attend the supper hour and to be available for informal conversation with voters.  All voters are welcome to attend the supper and participate in the discussions and to hear the candidates’ presentations.

The candidates will speak first on the agenda shortly after 7 p.m.  The business meeting, open only to Democrats, follows with reports from committees and from Headquarters and continued planning for candidate-support activities.  It will adjourn by 9:00 p.m.
