Calf Unveiling Day at Aldermere Farm

ROCKPORT – Saturday, May 7 Aldermere Farm, a preserve of Maine Coast Heritage Trust, will open its doors and barnyard to the general public during Calf Unveiling Day to introduce the newest members of Aldermere’s Belted Galloway herd. From 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Aldermere's main farm barn, located at 20 Russell Avenue in Rockport, many other local farms and agricultural programs will be on-site with their animals, goods, local fare, and information. This year Aldermere will host this event's largest number of farms and vendors, which includes 3 Bug Farm, A Wrinkle In Thyme Farm, The Barber's Bunnies, Bittersweet Heritage Farm, Blueberry Farm Alpacas, Calico Floriculture & Design, Dulse and Rugosa, Final-lee Acres, Guini Ridge Farm, Headacre Farm, Rohege/Moon of Hyldemoer Herbals, Rosalie Joy's Bakery, Stone Fox Creamery, and White's Farm.

The family event will offer behind-the-scenes tours of Aldermere Farm to visit with the newly born Belted Galloway calves and a chance to see Aldermere's 4-H club in action. New attractions include live bluegrass and folk music performed by Gabriel Zacchai and an interactive milking cow display. Standing out among Aldermere’s traditional black and white belties – also known as the Oreo cows –will be the Aldermere herd’s first a dun-colored (light brown) bull calf!
