A live performance of decades of love songs, featuring Maryann Jacks with Matthew Mainster on the piano, will be held at The Lincoln Home  September 28 at 2:00pm.  New to performing in the local area, Maryann, a Rockland resident, spent many years as a Family Physician. As a child she began singing in a local church choir, and by age 12 was teaching herself guitar. As a teenager, she began writing songs, performed at local teen art festivals, sang in school choirs, and played lead guitarist in her high school dance band. As a member of the Cedar Crest College Women’s Choir, she sang on a European concert tour, where she had the opportunity to join with a number of European choirs. In 2002, she wrote and recorded a CD entitled “America’s Heart Beats There”, written for the 21 families of her home town in Middletown, NJ who had lost loved ones in the tragedy of September 11 th , 2001. After moving to Maine in 2015, she has continued her love of music by joining the Midcoast Community Chorus, a non-profit,multigenerational chorus. She has been a member of the Camden Library Songwriters’ Group, and has performed at their annual Songwriters’ Coffeehouse.
