ROCKPORT — Warren James Lundy, 90, died June 2, 2014, at the Gardens at Quarry Hill in Camden, surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 15, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., he was the son of Chester Lundy and Gladys Mertel Lundy. The family moved to Terre Haute, Ind., and he spent his childhood on the family farm.

He graduated from Pimento High School in 1941 and attended Rose Polytechnic Institute in Terre Haute for two years, before being called to service in the United States Army. In April 1943, he joined the 78th Infantry Division and spent more than 100 days of active combat throughout Europe and Germany. His division was engaged in notable battles including the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of Remagen. After the fighting, he remained in Germany as part of the occupational forces. He was honorably discharged March 2, 1946, having earned three Bronze Stars and achieving the rank of technical sergeant.

After the war, he returned in 1946 to Rose Polytechnic and was reunited with a childhood friend, Mary Louise Taylor, who was graduating from the School of Nursing in Terre Haute. The two were married Oct. 10, 1947, and were later blessed with two children, Jim and Linda.

Warren graduated from RPI in 1948 with a Bachelor or Science in plastics engineering. He spent his entire 37-year career with U.S. Rubber/UNIROYAL Inc. and traveled throughout Europe, Russia and Southeastern Asia for the company. He held various positions during his career from plant engineer to corporate commercial development.

Warren was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a lover of history, photography, videography, technology, woodworking and classical music.

He was predeceased by his son, James Taylor Lundy; and his sisters, Rhea Jane Archer and Patricia Heidenreich. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Lundy of Camden; his sister, Mai Lingle of San Jose, Calif.; his daughter, Linda Lundy and her companion, Jeffrey Merrill, of Thomaston; his grandchildren, David and Helena Yarosis of Rockport, Jason and Jennika Lundy of Northport, Sean Engel of South Portland and Laura Engel and her companion, Scott Curit, of Thomaston; and his great-grandchildren, Jenna and Miranda Yarosis, Leo and Liv Lundy, and Aidan Curit.

A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held Sunday, June 22 at 1 p.m. at John Street United Methodist Church, 98 John St. in Camden with the Rev. Peg Moser officiating.  Private burial with military honors will be held in Seaview Cemetery in Rockport.
