Friday’s early clear skies and bright sunshine gave way to clouds and spitting rain, and for much of the Midcoast, the sunset was textured and colorful with orange and pink hues cast across fluffy clouds.

The sun wasn’t about to give up easily though, and graced us all with beautiful rainbows, which were captured in photos from Damariscotta Lake to Warren and Rockland to Camden.

Saturday’s weather will include bright sunny skies, with a high near 57 degrees Fahrenheit. There will be a west wind, 5 to 10 mph, becoming south in the afternoon. Make the best of your day, because clouds and showers return Saturday night and so far, will continue through Tuesday. We’re not looking any further into the week at the weather report — we just don’t want to know what the rest of the week holds at this point.
