THOMASTON — Sally M. Foley died May 22, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Sally taught at the Chatham Township High School in Chatham Township, N.J., for most of her professional career, before retiring in 1988. While teaching, Sally served as the senior class advisor and was an involved volunteer with the school hockey team. Sally was extremely dedicated to her students and wanted nothing more than their success.

After retirement, Sally was extremely active with Boy Scout Troop #214 in Thomaston, and served as the troop committee chairman for many years. She gave many years of dedicated service to the town of Thomaston’s Fourth of July festival. She also was involved with the founding of the Thomaston Food Pantry, where she worked for a number of years. Sally was an active member of the Daughters of St. Bernard's, including serving as the organization's president and vice president.

Sally is survived by her nephew, Francis X. Brandon of Thomaston; two nieces, Diana F. Brandon of New York and Marielle G. Brandon of Florida; two cousins, Mark and Maryanne Watson and family, and John Watson, all of Essex, Conn.; three grandchildren, Francis X. Brandon III and his wife, Lisa, of Warren, and William M. Brandon and Sarah M. Brandon, both of Thomaston; as well as a very large extended family, including Mr. and Mrs. Paul DeStefano of Parsippany, N.J., and the Konze-Tarka family of Oneonta, N.Y.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit Friday, May 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 31 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, 150 Broadway in Rockland. A reception will follow in the Grispi Center.

There will also be visiting hours at Bradley-Brough Funeral Home in Chatham, N.J., on Monday, June 2, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 3, at the St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church in Short Hills, NJ. Interment will follow at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, N.J.
