Mahlon Dumont, obituary
BELFAST — Mahlon H. Dumont, 89, passed away peacefully May 26, 2014, at Harbor Hill Nursing Home in Belfast. He was born July 7, 1924, in Skowhegan, a son of the late Mahlon and Sadie (Smith) Dumont.
He went to college in Farmington, studying history and business. Mahlon worked for the Moosehead Railroad Company as an accountant. After retiring Mahlon enjoyed shopping, going out to lunch and visiting his sister in Florida. In Florida, Mahlon was a Mason and an avid walker.
In addition to his parents, Mahlon was predeceased by his stepmother, Violet; three siblings, Jim Dumont, Shirley Dumont Cook and Roger Dumont; as well as a nephew, James Dumont.
He is survived by his nephews, Paul Cook of Lakeland, Fla., and Tim and Craig Dumont, both of Folcrox, Pa.; a niece, Colleen Cook Oxton of Belfast; two great nieces, Cassandra Oxton Anderson and Brittany E. Cook, both of Florida, and a special friend, Faye of Searsport.
At Mahlon’s request, private services will be held at a later date for the family.
Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home.
