Penobscot Bay YMCA Boat Auction seeks boats and nautical items
The Penobscot Bay YMCA’s Annual Ned Kyle Boat Auction is scheduled for Saturday, June 10. Since the first auction in 1998, this major fundraising event provides support for the YMCA Scholarship Program. This year’s auction will continue to provide much needed support for the YMCA Summer Camp kids and families as well as other neighbors in need. The Y's mission of keeping the Y accessible to everyone regardless of financial capacity is anchored firmly in its commitment to social responsibility, according to a news release from the Y.
The Y is looking for new or old boats (sail, power, dinghy, kayak, canoe, skiffs, rowing shells, surf boards, and just about anything that floats) or marine items that individuals would like to donate or a tax write-off. Someone from the Y will stop by and make sure it is suitable, and arrange for transportation at no expense to the donor. Boat owners can claim the selling price as a tax deduction.
To donate a boat or for more information, call Marcia Roberts, Development Director at the Y @ 236-3375, ext. 209.
