One injured in Rockport crash at Commercial Street and Pascal Ave.
ROCKPORT – One woman was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center Thursday, April 26, following a collision at the intersection of Commercial Street and Pascal Ave. in Rockport.
Investigating officer Christopher Taylor of the Rockport Police Department confirmed later in the day that he was able to speak with Jean Strom of Camden as she received medical attention in the Emergency Department of Pen Bay Medical Center. Further knowledge of her condition remains unknown at this time.
According to Taylor, Strom was attempting to turn south onto Commercial Street (Rte 1) from Pascal Ave. when she was hit by a northbound pickup truck driven by Jeff Walker, of Hope, at about 1:48 p.m.
Strom’s Subaru sustained significant damage, according to Taylor, and both air bags deployed as a result of the collision that slowed traffic for about 20 minutes.
Walker and his passenger were emotionally rattled but not injured.
Officer Taylor will continue his investigation to determine any factors that may have contributed to the accident.
NorthEast Ambulance and Rockport Fire assisted in responding to the scene.
This is the second accident along Route 1 in Rockport in as many days. On Wednesday, another accident outside of Madelyn Lane, about a mile south of the Pascal intersection, reduced traffic to one lane for at least 45 minutes.
