Belfast Pedestrian, Biking and Hiking Committee seeking survey opinions

Would you walk more in Belfast if there were more sidewalks or more crosswalks? Would you ride your bike more if there were additional bike lanes or bike racks? What areas of town are most deficient?
The Belfast Pedestrian, Biking and Hiking Committee, an advisory group to the Belfast City Council, is conducting a short survey to gather information on how people who live, work or recreate in Belfast feel about walking and biking.
The survey may be taken online at www.surveymonkey.com/r/88SC7C7. While online participation is preferred, paper copies are available in the Code and Planning Department upstairs at Belfast City Hall. Surveys must be submitted by June 3.
"One of the things that makes Belfast such a livable community is the opportunity to walk or bike," said committee member Bill Smith, the principal author of the survey. "While the city has made great strides in this area, there is still work to be done to make it easier, and safer, for people of all ages and abilities to get out and walk or bike," he said.
"Through this survey, we are looking for direction from the community," added the committee's Jan Owen, who also has been working on the survey. "We need your opinion."
