Waldoboro police beat: thefts, accidents and gas drive-offs
WALDOBORO – Waldoboro police reported the following activity, Dec. 18 to Jan. 14. Waldoboro officers responded to 491 calls for service in this time period. Below are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
Jan. 12
Officer Jeffery Fuller arrested Shawn Day, 19, of Waldoboro on a probation violation.
Officer John Lash investigated an accident in the Irving Mainway parking lot at 6:32 p.m. According to the report Zachary Genthner, 21, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2002 Toyota sedan as he struck the passenger side of a 2004 GMC pickup truck parked at Irving. The truck belongs to Eric Bradstreet, of Newcastle. There were no injuries. Lash summonsed Genthner for operating after revocation and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident.
Officer Jeremy Joslyn arrested George Gendron, 30, of Waldoboro, for a violation of a protective order.
Jan. 8
Officer Sean Kozer investigated an accident on the Bremen Road at 7:45 a.m. According to the report, Ryan Parlin, 24, of Bremen, was driving a 2004 Dodge, pickup truck south on the Bremen Road when he crossed into the opposite lane and went off the roadway. Parlin struck a guardrail, went down an embankment and traveled approximately 156 feet before striking a tree. He stated he fell asleep, the police report said. Kozer summonsed him for failure to make oral or written accident report.
Officer Sean Kozer investigated a theft of fuel oil from the Irving Mainway, and investigated a $32.01 gas drive off from Maritime Farms.
Jan. 7
Officer Thomas Hoepner summonsed a 14 year-old male juvenile, of Waldoboro, for assault.
Officer Jeffery Fuller arrested Dylan Willey, 20, of Waldoboro, on a warrant.
He also investigated a theft of money from Goodnows Variety.
Jan. 5
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a theft from the Waldoboro Smoke Shop. The value of items taken is unknown.
Jan. 4
Officer Sean Kozer investigated a report from the Big Apple of a $10 gas drive-off. The subject was found and returned to pay for gas.
Jan. 2
An accident occurred on the North Nobleboro Road at 4:24 p.m. Alan Wotton, 25, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2003 Saturn sedan and was traveling east on the North Nobleboro Road. He was unable to stop at intersection at Winslows Mills Road, the report said, and ran off the roadway. The accident was not reported until next day. Wotton was charged with failure to give notice of accident by quickest means.
Jan. 1
Officer Jeremy Joslyn summonsed Cathie Harrington, 25, of Nobleboro, for operating after suspension.
An accident occurred on the Washington Road. Robert Griffin, 18, of Union, was driving a 2005 Dodge sedan. Matthew McFarland, 29, of Washington, was driving a 2000 Dodge pickup truck. Both vehicles were southbound on the Washington Road when a passenger in Griffin's vehicle complained of pain. He intended to turn around in a driveway on the left side of the road, according to the report. He pulled to right side of roadway and was making a wide left turn. Griffin said he put his left turn signal on at the last minute. McFarland said he saw Griffin pull to the right and believed his car was coming to a stop, the report said. McFarland did not observe Griffin's turn signal and attempted to pass him, the report said. Griffin turned left toward driveway as McFarland was going around him, causing both vehicles to collide.
Dec. 29
Officer John Lash summonsed Zacariah Sawyer, 19, of Waldoboro, for criminal mischief, violation of conditional release and reckless conduct.
An accident occurred on Jefferson Street at 4:35 p.m. Travis Lee, 20, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2005 GMC pickup truck when he pulled around a stopped vehicle to avoid an attacker bearing a shovel, the report said. Amberley Benoit, 28, of Waldoboro, who was driving a 2000 Dodge sedan, was traveling along Main Street. Lee pulled too far onto Main St., and due to weather conditions, collided with Benoit.
Dec. 28
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a report of harassing texts. A subject was found and warned.
He also arrested a 16 year-old juvenile on a warrant.
Chief William Labombarde investigated a report of phone harassment.
Dec. 26
Officer Jeremy Joslyn investigated a report of harassing phone calls. A subject was found and warned.
Dec. 24
Officer Jeremy Joslyn summonsed Zachary Titus, 28, of Thomaston, for a violation of conditional release.
Dec. 22
An accident occurred on the Union Road at 10:29 a.m. when Sandra Bielecki, 43, of Levant, and operating a 2005 Chevrolet sedan, drove off the side of the pavement into a ditch. The car continued for more than 50 feet, striking a large boulder before coming to a stop. There were no injuries.
An accident occurred on the North Nobleboro Road at 10:58 a.m. as Kimberly Reed, 18, of Warren, and driving a 2000 Jeep, was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet sedan operated by Joseph Brann, 18, of Waldoboro. Brann stated he looked into a driveway while cresting a hill, according to the report. He stated he crossed the center of the road and struck Reed in the opposite travel lane. Kimberly complained of pain in the leg. Joseph also complained of pain.
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated an attempted motor vehicle theft.
Officer John Lash investigated a burglary of items valued at approximately $170.
Dec. 21
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a report of criminal mischief at a residence, and a report that someone entered a woman's vehicle and stole approximately $4.
He also arrested Gregory Blackler, 29, of Waldoboro, for assault and domestic violence assault.
Dec. 20
Officer Sean Kozer investigated a report of a theft of approximately $20 worth of items from from the Coastal Smoke Shop.
Officer Thomas Bartunek charged Shawn Brewer, 30, of Waldoboro, for assault, criminal mischief and three counts of possession of scheduled drug.
Dec. 19
Officer Sean Kozer arrested Colleen Sawyer, 47, of Waldoboro, for failure to produce vehicle or return it to the scene and refusing to sign a summons.
Officer Thomas Hoepner investigated a report of criminal mischief to a field.
Dec. 18
Officer Thomas Bartunek arrested Gina Glidden, 24, of Warren on a warrant.
