ROCKLAND — Tyrone Robert Trask, 55, of Rockport, accepted a plea deal from the State and was sentenced Aug. 3 in Knox County Unified Court to multiple prison terms for convictions in 2015 including threatening an Assistant District Attorney.
Trask’s convictions and corresponding sentences include terrorizing, four counts, two years in prison; assault, two counts, two years in prison; disorderly conduct, offensive words, gestures, six months in prison; assault on an officer, two years in prison; aggravated assault, three years and six months in prison; and violating condition of release, six months in prison. A charge of unlawful sexual contact was dismissed.
Trask threatened Assistant District Attorney Christopher Fernald in October 2015 during a court hearing. He was also convicted of terrorizing, in May 2011, in Rockland Superior Court.
Rockport Sgt. Travis Ford arrested Trask on Oct. 18, 2015 and charged him with unlawful sexual contact, assault and disorderly conduct after he responded to a call concerning two men at a Camden Street residence who said Trask sexually assaulted one of them and assaulted the other by injuring his ear which caused deep scratches and bleeding. The men told police that the altercation occurred when they confronted Trask about an incident that occurred the night before when Trask allegedly sexually assaulted one of the men, according to the court documents.
During the transport to the Knox County Jail, Trask refused to give his name to Ford and said he was going to have someone kill him later, according to police. Ford said that when Trask threatened him, he recalled the same threat made against him a few years ago and remembered the man in vehicle was Trask, according to the court document.
Trask was arrested again on Oct. 23, 2015 by Rockport Police Officer Craig Cooley and charged with violating conditions of release and aggravated assault. According to the police report, a witness reported that the victim had first slapped Trask on the side of his face. Trask then punched the man who fell to the ground and kept kicking him in the jaw and ribs while wearing steel-toed boots, police said in the affidavit.
The victim was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center with a broken jaw and then life-flighted to Maine Medical Center to have his jaw wired.
On Oct. 26, 2015 Knox County Sheriff Deputy John Hansen responded to the Knox County Jail for a reported assault on a Corrections Officer, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department.
When Hansen arrived at the jail he found that Trask, had been confined to a restraint chair while he was being held at the Knox County Jail for a number of previous charges.
According to Corrections Officers, Trask had been combative and while he was being placed in the restraint chair, had allegedly spit in the face of one of the officers. Trask was also threatening physical harm and death to all involved as soon as he was released, the sheriff’s office said.
Trask was then charged with assault on an Officer (Class C felony) and three counts of criminal threatening (Class D).
Trask's criminal record includes terrorizing and assault convictions, some against officers.
