Oakland bust uncovers nearly quarter pound of heroin
OAKLAND — Maine Drug Enforcement Agents have charged a New York man and an Oakland woman with selling heroin. The two were arrested in an apartment at 19 Hill Street before dawn this morning. Nearly a quarter pound of heroin was seized.
Over the past two months, MDEA, working with Oakland Police, opened an investigation into persons from New York City selling heroin from the apartment. Agents conducted several undercover purchases of heroin from occupants of the apartment, according to a news release from the Maine DEA.
Early this morning, MDEA, assisted by State Police, Oakland Police and Kennebec County Deputies searched apartment 7 and seized nearly 100 grams of heroin, which is the equivalent of 1000 doses, $1,800 in cash and other evidence of drug sales.
Charged were Kendell Cagle, 27, of New York, N.Y., and who goes by the street name "Gudda", and 27 year old Shayna Shaw-Jenney from Oakland, whose apartment was searched. Both were charged with Class "A" Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Heroin). Cagle's bail set at $25,000 cash and Shaw-Jenney's bail was $5,000. The charges was aggravated due to the amount of drugs seized and because of Cagle's prior felony drug conviction from New York.
Agents are continuing the investigation and more arrests are likely.
