UPDATED: Two-car crash and rollover in Owls Head sends one to hospital
OWLS HEAD — A two car crash Sunday, around 10:20 a.m., at the intersection of Ingraham Drive and Ocean Avenue in Owls Head caused one vehicle to rollover and sent one person to the hospital.
According to Chief Deputy Tim Carroll of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash with Sgt. Lance Mitchell leading the investigation. Danee Barra, 39, of Thomaston, was driving a 2009 Jeep Wrangler on Wiley Avenue and attempted to stop prior to entering Ingraham Drive, but could not due to the slick roadway. Michael Starrett, 57, of Warren, was driving a 2011 Chevy Silverado pickup truck and was traveling southbound on Ingraham Drive when Barra’s vehicle crossed directly in front of the truck. The two vehicles collided and the jeep rolled over on its side.
Barra and her passenger were trapped inside the jeep but were able to remove themselves from the vehicle before Rockland Fire and EMS arrived on the scene, said Acting Rockland Fire Chief Adam Miceli.
Starrett was not injured, however his passenger complained of neck pain was transported by Rockland EMS to Pen Bay Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The names of the two passengers were not available from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Rockland Police and the Owls Head Fire Department also assisted at the accident scene.
