Knox County Sheriff's beat
ROCKLAND — The Knox County Sheriff's Office reported the following activity, Oct. 28-Nov. 3, 2012, during which the agency received 268 calls for service, including nine car accidents involving deer and one accident involving a moose.
Below are some of the highlights, as reported by the agency. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt.
Oct. 28
Deputy Lance Mitchell and Sgt. James Moore responded to a report of a domestic in Warren. Upon arrival and after speaking to the parties involved, this was deemed a verbal argument only and one subject was removed from the residence.
Deputy Paul Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving a single vehicle. Non-reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Spear began an investigation of motor vehicle burglary in St. George. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
Deputy Matt Elwell began an investigation of theft in Warren. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
Deputy John Hansen and Sgt. Moore responded to a report of an intoxicated male in Union. Upon arrival, contact was made with the male subject and he was issued a summons for having an open alcoholic beverage in public.
Deputy Hansen and Sgt. Moore responded to a report of a domestic in Friendship. Subsequent to this response, a juvenile female was removed from the residence and transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for an evaluation.
Oct. 29
Deputy Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Appleton involving a single vehicle leaving the roadway. Driver inattention was the key factor in this crash and reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Elwell responded to Hope in an attempt to locate a male who was said to be operating under the influence. The male was later located and was not impaired, but did receive a summons for operating after suspension.
Deputy John Hansen responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in South Thomaston. The vehicle was located but not the operator.
Deputy Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Non-reportable damage was sustained.
Oct. 30
Deputy Paul Pinkham responded to assist Thomaston Police at the scene of an unsecure premise. The building was checked and found that the inside security door was secure.
Deputy Elwell began an investigation of burglary in St. George. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
Deputy Elwell arrested Clancy Collins, 20, of Rockland, on an outstanding arrest warrant.
Deputy Nathaniel Jack responded to conduct a well-being check on an adult male who was said to have made statements of harming himself. The male was located and all set.
Oct. 31
Deputy Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle whose operator drove through a coned off construction area and into a trench. Reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Dave Johnson began an investigation of theft in St. George. This is still an active investigation with possible suspects named.
Deputy Jack responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle striking a moose. Reportable damage was sustained.
Nov. 1
Deputy Jack responded to assist Thomaston Police at the scene of an intoxicated male. The male subject was unresponsive upon arrival and taken to Pen Bay Medical Center via Thomaston Ambulance.
Deputy Paul Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Palmer responded to Spruce Head in an attempt to locate a subject wanted on charges of domestic violence assault out of Wiscasset. Subsequent to this response, Aaron Ashton, 31, of Wiscasset, was arrested and turned over to Wiscasset Police.
Deputies Jack and Johnson responded to a report of an out of control juvenile in Friendship. Upon arrival and after speaking to the subjects involved, it was decided that the juvenile be transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for an evaluation.
Deputy Johnson responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage was sustained.
Subsequent to a traffic stop in Washington, Deputy Jack Arrested Zachary Gillespie, 20, of Waldoboro, on charges of operating without a license, illegal transportation of drugs by a minor, illegal transportation of alcohol by a minor, furnishing liquor to a minor and use/or possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger, Terrance Thurston, 19, of Union, was also arrested on charges of possession of schedule W drugs, use/or possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of liquor by a minor by consumption.
Nov. 2
Deputy Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Non-reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Rockport involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Spear and Chief Deputy Tim Carroll responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle whose operator left the roadway, striking a tree. Both the driver and passenger sustained injury.
Deputies Spear and Johnson responded to a report of a theft in Warren. Subsequent to this response, Matthew Meyer, 19, of Warren, was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Lincoln County and also charged wth theft. His juvenile counterpart was also issued a summons for theft.
Deputy Jack and Sgt. Sprague responded to a report of a burglary in St. George. Subsequent to this response, Ricky Block, 46, of St. George, was arrested on charges of burglary violation of conditions of release. Block was on bail for a previous charge of burglary.
Deputy Larry Hesseltine responded to a report of a disorderly male on Vinalhaven. The male was located, removed and issued a warning for criminal trespass.
Deputies Mitchell and Johnson responded to a report of an adult male, making threats of harming himself in Union. Upon arrival and after speaking to the subject involved, it was decided that the male be transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for an evaluation.
Deputy Mitchell arrested Nicholas Hutchings, 27, of Randolph, on an outstanding warrant.
Nov. 3
Deputy Mitchell and Sgt. Sprague responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving a single vehicle that rolled over. All three passengers were transported to the hospital, while the driver suffered no injuries. Subsequent to this response, Michael Benner, 23, of Bristol, was arrested for operating under the influence.
Deputy Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Non-reportable damage was sustained.

Deputy Spear arrested Adam Doherty, 28, of Rockland, on a probation hold.
Deputy Pinkham responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Pinkham began an investigation of theft in Washington. The suspect, Travis Condon, 21, of Washington, was later located and issued a summons for same.
