Betty Pendleton Farrand, obituary
ROCKLAND — Betty Lou Pendleton Farrand, 94, a lifelong resident of Rockland, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Born in Belfast on December 2, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ruth and Robert Pendleton. Betty cherished her connection to Rockland, living her entire life in the family home built by her father on Center Street. She was a 1949 graduate of Rockland High School.
During the 1970s, many in the community knew Betty from her work at Huston Tuttle and then later as a teller at Depositors Trust and Heritage Bank. Betty was an avid and dedicated golfer, enjoying the sport nearly every day, playing regularly until she was 86.
Betty was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, David Farrand.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Axtell Vanorse and her husband David of Thomaston; her son, John Axtell of Summerville, South Carolina; her two stepsons, Donald and David Farrand of Barberton, Ohio; her cherished grandchildren, Heidi Neal, Beth Vanorse, Katy Dippolito, Kristin Axtell, and Travis Axtell; and her great-grandchildren, Natalie, Kaylie, and Amara. Betty’s warmth and presence will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
In accordance with Betty's wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 10 a.m., at Achorn Cemetery, Old County Road, Rockland.
