WARREN – The PITCH (Penbay Indoor Turf and Community Hub), the dream child of Rick Bresnahan, held its official ground breaking ceremony Monday, July 22.
The Pitch will be a 210-foot by 325-foot steel building, designed to house a 180-foot by 279'-foot indoor artificial turf surface, along with ancillary spaces that will support the facility's many activities. The Pitch will be made available to all communities and organizations throughout the year, and provide a state-of-the-art space for people of all ages to participate in many grass sports through leagues, clinics, clubs and tournaments.
Upon the completion of construction, which is currently scheduled for the end of February 2014, Tammy and Robbie Krul, operators of the well-known Dutch Soccer Academy, will manage the facility's many activities. Information on using the PITCH will be made available in the near future through press releases and the facility website. The PITCH is on Route 90 in Warren, heading towards Waldoboro it will be the first right before the Warren Auto Barn on the same side of the road.
The PITCH is owned by WSF LLC and its president is Richard Bresnahan.
Bresnahan spoke after the ceremony too the people that came.
"I just want to thank everyone for coming out," said Bresnahan. "Thanks to the town of Warren for helping us through the planning board process."
Bresnahan went on to thank the builders, Maine Coast Construction, McGee Construction and Newman Concrete Services. Another local construction company, Omni Construction, will be the project manager. Last, but not least, Bresnahan thanked his wife, Ann, for her support.
"I wouldn't be here today without my wife." said Bresnahan. "I love my wife, I love my life."
Gartley and Dorsky, based in Rockport, are the civil and structural engineers, this being the second project that Gartley and Bresnahan have been involved in together, the first being Midcoast Recreation Center, a hockey and tennis facility on Route 90 in Rockport.
