Murder, drugs and domestic assaults included in Knox County grand jury indictments this week
ROCKLAND — This quarter's work by a Knox County grand jury yielded indictments against 29 Mainers, including a murder indictment against a Maine State Prison inmate who allegedly killed a fellow inmate less than a month ago. Included in the indictments released Thursday, following three days of work at the courthouse in Rockland by the grand jury, was notice of three impounded indictments. Those additional indictments were impounded for 10 days, and should be unsealed then or when the individuals named in them are arrested.
Following are the indictments handed down July 11.
Ryan Ames, 24, of Waldoboro, was indicted for unlawful possession of schedule W drugs (heroin) Oct. 24 in Thomaston. This is an MDEA case.
Tiffany Batty, 31, of Rockport, was indicted for unlawful possession of synthetic hallucinogenic drugs (bath salts) April 17 in Rockland. Batty was previously convicted of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs Feb. 4, 2012, in Knox County Superior Court. This is an MDEA case.
Jeffrey P. Callahan, 20, of Warren, was indicted for domestic violence criminal threatening March 10 in Rockland. Callahan is accused of threatening an individual with a knife. This is a Rockland Police Department case.
Ashley Carleton, 29, of Rockport, was indicted for one count of class B theft by deception, one count of class C theft by deception and one count of aggravated forgery. Carleton is accused of theft of more than $10,000 in MaineCare benefits from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services between Jan. 1, 2010, and Dec. 31, 2012. She is also accused of theft of more than $1,000 in Low Income Home Energy Assistance from the Maine State Housing Authority.
Travis W. Carter, 27, of Warren, was indicted for burglary, theft by unauthorized taking and criminal mischief. Carter is accused of illegal entering a business in Warren June 2 and stealing "Rip It," "Mad Monkey" and "Sexy Monkey" herbal mixture packets also known as "spice." Carter is also accused of damaging or destroying a door at the business as well as merchandise, including cigarettes. This is a Knox County Sheriff's Office case.
Michael Carver, 34, of Rockland, was indicted for two counts of aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (morphine) in Rockland Jan. 11 and Jan. 14. Carver was previously convicted of unlawfully furnishing scheduled drugs June 28, 1999, in Penobscot County Superior Court, according to the court's indictment documents. This is an MDEA case.
Amanda Lynn Davis, 30, of Westbrook, was indicted for trafficking in prison contraband April 21 in Warren at Maine State Prison. This is an MDEA case.
Laurie Ann Davis, 49, of Westbrook, was indicted for trafficking in prison contraband April 21 in Warren at Maine State Prison. This is an MDEA case.
Jeremy R. Dennison, 27, of Rockland, was indicted for one count each of aggravated assault, domestic violence assault and assault. Dennison is accused of using a piece of wood June 19 to cause injury and assaulting three different individuals during an incident in Rockland. This is a Rockland Police Department case.
Jennifer Fetteroli, 36, of Warren, was indicted for two counts of unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs (oxycodone) in Warren Jan. 25 and Jan. 30. This is an MDEA case.
Thomas L. Hammond, 25, of Rockland, was indicted for two counts of operating after revocation March 2 and March 9 in Rockland. Hammond was previously convicted of OUI Oct. 2, 2007, in Wiscasset District Court. This is a Rockland Police Department case.
Guy E. Hunnewell III (aka Chip Hunnewell), 42, an inmate at Maine State Prison, was indicted for intentional or knowing murder. Hunnewell is accused of killing fellow inmate Alan D. Powell June 25 in an exercise area at the prison in Warren. Both men were serving sentences for murder. Hunnewell was also indicted for aggravated assault for injuring another inmate at the prison with a shovel Jan. 28. These are both Maine Department of Corrections cases.
Frank L. Johnson IV, 30, of Cushing, was indicted for negotiating a worthless instrument April 22 in Cushing. He is accused of writing and passing a bad check for $105.54 to a business. Johnson was previously convicted of theft Sept. 28, 2007, in Knox County Superior Court and convicted of negotiating a worthless instrument May 9, 2007, in Knox County Superior Court. This is a Knox County Sheriff's Office case.
Gary A. Jones, 52, of Cushing, was indicted for criminal threatening Oct. 10, 2012, in Cushing. This is a Department of Marine Resources case.
Trevor Lamoreau, 46, of Bath, was indicted for one count of theft by deception and two counts of unsworn falsification. Lamoreau is accused of theft of more than $10,000 in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services between Dec. 1, 2007 and May 31, 2011.
Harlan MacKenzie, 43, of Somerville, was indicted for tampering with a witness or informant June 18 in Rockland. According to the court's indictment document, MacKenzie, believing an official proceeding or an official criminal investigation was pending or begun and did "induce or cause, or attempt to induce or cause [the witness or informant] to withhold testimony, information or evidence." This is an MDEA case.
Danielle A. Maxcy, 39, of Rockland, was indicted for two counts of domestic violence assault Feb. 3 in Isle au Haut. Maxcy is accused of assaulting two people during the incident. Maxcy was previously convicted of domestic violence assault Nov. 4, 2009, in Belfast District Court. This is a Knox County Sheriff's Office case.
Curtis Henry Moody, 44, of Warren, was indicted for domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence terrorizing and domestic violence assault. Moody is facing charges stemming from an incident June 12 in Warren. Moody was previously convicted of domestic violence assault March 14, 2011, in Rumford District Court, according to the court's indictment documents. This is a Knox County Sheriff's Office case.
Mackenzie K. Murray, 21, of Waldoboro, was indicted for theft by unauthorized taking. Murray is accused of stealing a recreational vehicle and/or its contents in Washington Dec. 24, 2012. This is a Knox County Sheriff's Office case.
Bruce O. O'Clair III, 32, of Union, was indicted for criminal use of explosives and operating after suspension. O'Clair is accused of throwing or placing explosives onto someone else's property Feb. 25 in Union and driving with a suspended or revoked license Feb. 25 in Cushing. This is a Knox County Sheriff's Office case.
Cecil P. Philip Jr., 46, of Rockland, was indicted for two counts of trafficking in prison contraband (diazepam and marijuana), one count of trafficking of tobacco in an adult correction facility and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs Feb. 15 in Rockland. This is a Knox County Sheriff's Office case.
Robert Rankin, 23, of Rockland, was indicted for aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (heroin) Sept. 28 in Rockland. Rankin is accused of trafficking in heroin on a school bus, on school grounds or in a Safe Zone. This is an MDEA case.
Anthony Raye, 28, of Rockland, was indicted for two counts of unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs (oxycodone) May 16 and May 17 in Rockland. Raye was also indicted for aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs (heroin) May 20 and unlawful trafficking in schedule W drugs (heroin) May 21 in Thomaston. On May 20 Raye is accused of trafficking in heroin on a school bus, on school grounds or within a designated "Safe Zone," elevating the charge to aggravated level. This is an MDEA case.
David Reckards, 43, of Thomaston, was indicted for unlawful trafficking in synthetic hallucinogenic drugs Nov. 20, 2012, in Thomaston. This is an MDEA case.
Reckards was also indicted for unlawful trafficking in synthetic hallucinogenic drugs March 15 in Rockland, conspiracy to commit unlawful trafficking in synthetic hallucinogenic drugs March 14 in Rockland and violation of conditions of release April 12 in Rockland. Reckards is accused of using email to place an order for drugs for another person. He is also accused of violating his pre-conviction bail (for a charge of unlawful trafficking in synthetic hallucinogenic drugs) by being in possession of Suboxone. These are MDEA cases.
Keegan Roma, 21, of Westbrook, was indicted for trafficking in prison contraband April 21 in Warren at Maine State Prison. This is an MDEA case.
Jesse Sawyer, 29, of Rockport, was indicted for unlawful possession of schedule W drugs (hydrocodone) May 10 in Rockland. This is a Maine Drug Enforcement Agency case.
Matthew E. Shay, 37, of Waldoboro, was indicted for criminal operating under the influence and aggravated operating after habitual offender revocation June 11 in Friendship. Shay was previously convicted of OUI Nov. 29, 2012, and Aug. 14, 2003, in Rockland District Court. This is a Knox County Sheriff's Office case.
Tyrone R. Trask, 53, of South Thomaston, was indicted for assault Dec. 27, 2012, in Rockport. Trask was previously convicted of assault on an officer and terrorizing Nov. 4, 2009, in Knox County Superior Court. This is a Rockport Police Department case.
Casey L. Waterman, 25, of Appleton, was indicted for negotiating a worthless instrument Nov. 29, 2012, in Warren. Waterman is accused of writing and passing a bad check for $2,520 to a business. This is a Knox County Sheriff's Office case.
