Planned propane burn on Camden's Limerock Street produces big flame

CAMDEN -- This morning, July 9, a contractor is working at the P.G. Willey fuel facility on Limerock Street, according to Camden Fire Chief Chris Farley. Work will entail replacing safety valves on the bulk propane storage tanks. In order to do that, the tanks will need to be emptied of the propane, and the result produced a large flame.
A torch will be set up at the facility to burn off the propane in the containers.
"The torch will likely produce a large flame, this is part of the process so the safety valves can be replaced on the bulk propane tanks," he said.
Local emergency service providers and the Knox Regional Communications Center are aware of the activity.
