Marshall F. Field, obituary
ST. GEORGE — Marshall Frank Field, 56, passed away unexpectedly April 26, 2013, at his home in Tenants Harbor.
Born in Rockland Jan. 15, 1957, at Knox County General Hospital, Marshall spent his first years on Mohegan Island. He moved with his family in the early 60s to Tenants Harbor, where he lived his entire life. Marshall went to local schools and worked odd jobs for many people in town. He helped St. George businessmen, such as Skinny Morris, True Hall and Frank Meservey. Marshall baited bags for area lobster fishermen and was known unofficially as one of the best in town. He was a quiet person and it was important to him to always do a good job.
Marshall rode a bike and picked up returnable bottles from the roadside. In recent years, he would often be seen driving between jobs on his riding lawnmower and would return your wave with a friendly "toot – toot" with his mower mounted air horn. He and his neighbors, George and Irene Rizkalla, were good friends and helped one another. He enjoyed having all-meat pizza dinners with the Rizkalla's on occasion and they relied on his trusted friendship to watch and care for their home. "So many liked Marshall so much and he never knew it." He was a special man who is already missed.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Irene Field; his brother, Jay Field; his half-brother, Paul Wallace; and his uncle, Donald Field.
He is survived by his brothers, Brian Field of South Portland/Tenants Harbor and John Field of Union; his sister, Julia Field of Lewiston; and his half-sister, Diane Randall of Waldoboro; several nieces and nephews; and good friends, George and Irene Rizkalla.
A graveside committal service for Marshall will be held Thursday, May 9, at 1 p.m. at Seaside Cemetery. The Rev. William Hickey will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. George Volunteer Firefighters Association, 3 School Street, P.O. Box 249, Tenants Harbor, ME 04860.
