Waldoboro police beat: break-ins, Twisted Tea theft, slashed tires and dumped purses
WALDOBORO — Waldoboro police responded to 445 calls for service from June 11 to July 8. What follows are a few of the highlights. An arrest or summons does not imply guilt. A person charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
June 11
Officer John Lash summonsed Daroyl Wilson, 23, of Jefferson for speeding and arrested Aaron Creamer, 27, of Rockport for operating under the influence and operating after suspension.
June 12
Officer John Lash investigated a report of theft from the Big Apple.
Officer Thomas Bartunek investigated an accident on the Washington Road at 5:20 p.m. Tristram Jones, 63, of Newcastle, was driving a 1999 Chevrolet, sedan, traveling north on the Washington Road. He left the roadway and struck a power pole, continued on to strike a tree, passed across a lawn, crossed a driveway and struck a fence before coming to rest in a field. There were no injuries.
Officer Jeremy Joslyn summonsed Donna Mardle, 41, of Jefferson for failure to show proof of insurance, and summonsed Theron Thibodeau, 24, of Waldoboro, for speeding.
June 13
Officer John Lash investigated an accident on the Friendship Road at 10:32 a.m. John Guarnaccia, 58, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2011 Toyota pickup truck, traveling north on the Friendship Road when a deer ran out in front of him. The deer's head hit side corner of front bumper causing deer to rotate so its body hit the driver’s door. There were no reported injuries.
Detective Jason Benefield summonsed Aaron Armstrong, 32, of Jefferson for aggravated cruelty to animals.
Officer John Lash is investigating a report from Moose Crossing Garden Center of the theft of some flowers.
June 14
Officer Jeremy Joslyn summonsed Sarah Lynch, 25, of Waldoboro, for operating without a license.
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated the theft of a white/pink Roadmaster mountain bike; arrested David Alicea, 49, of Waldoboro, for a violation of a protective order; and investigated a report of criminal mischief to a motor vehicle mirror.
June 15
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a report from the Big Apple of a $38.01 gas drive-off, and arrested Jeremy Peterson, 23, of Waldoboro, on a warrant.
June 17
Officer Jeremy Joslyn summonsed Isaac Ward, 33, of Waldoboro, for violation of conditional release and operating after suspension; arrested Mark Fowler, 18, of Waldoboro for operating after suspension and violation of conditional release; and arrested Joshua Frenette, 33, of Warren, on a warrant.
June 18
Officer Jeremy Joslyn summonsed Sean Hunter, 31, of Rockland, for uninspected motor vehicle.
Officer John Lash arrested Jeremiah Hogan, 23, of Wiscasset, on a warrant, and investigated the reported theft of a cellphone while a student was at the high school.
Officer Thomas Hoepner investigated a report from Evergreen Nursery of the theft of some plants from a stand.
June 19
Officer John Lash investigated an accident on Main Street at 3:53 p.m. Megan Boyington, 17, of Bristol, was driving a 2001 Pontiac sedan. Anthony Closson, 54, of Rockport, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck. Both vehicles were traveling north on Main Street. According to the report, Closson stopped at cross walk to let pedestrian cross when Boyington rear-ended his vehicle. Closson suffered minor injuries.
June 20
Officer John Lash summonsed Theresa Call, 40, of Waldoboro, for domestic violence assault.
June 24
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a report someone broke into a residence, took a purse and dumped it in the backyard; investigated a report of slashed tires; investigated a report of a residential break-in and theft of items; investigated a break-in report at Waldoboro Chiropractic and Massage; and investigated a report from Flipper’s Market that two 12 packs of Twisted Tea was stolen.
Officer Jeremy Joslyn summonsed a 13 year old male from Waldoboro for criminal mischief.
June 25
Officer Thomas Hoepner investigated a report of slashed motor vehicle tires.
Officer Jeremy Joslyn charged Benjamin Gallagher, 29, of Waldoboro for domestic violence assault and violation of conditional release.
June 28
Officer Thomas Hoepner investigated a report from the high school that someone scuffed up the newly waxed cafeteria floor.
June 30
Officer Jeremy Joslyn summonsed Marie Brown, 21, of Nobleboro, for furnishing a place for minors to consume/possess alcohol and criminal trespass; and summonsed Kody Wallace, 19, of Nobleboro for minor in possession of alcohol.
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated the theft of flags from the Pine Street landing and monument.
July 1
Officer John Lash investigated a report that someone smashed a motor vehicle windshield and stole an inspection sticker; and investigated a harassment report.
July 4
Officer John Lash investigated a report of criminal mischief to a flag at a residence, and charged a 14 year-old Waldoboro male with domestic violence assault.
July 5
Sergeant Jamie Wilson investigated a report a subject walking on the railroad tracks.
July 6
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated the reported theft from the Moose Crossing Garden Center of a bale of soil.
July 8
Officer Thomas Hoepner investigated a $15 gasoline drive-off from the Big Apple.
Officer Jeffery Fuller investigated a report of criminal threatening.
Officer Andrew Santheson investigated an accident in the Hannaford parking lot at 4:30 p.m. Jane Seeber, 87, of Conn., was driving a 2009 Toyota utility vehicle. Robert Palmer, 59, of Waldoboro, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet van. Palmer was parked legally in a parking spot. Seeber made a left turn into parking spot and struck Palmer's while doing so.
