Waldoboro man charged with child pornography possession

WALDOBORO — A Waldoboro man was arrested Thursday on child pornography charges. The State Police Computer Crimes Unit arrested 35 year old Joel Harkins at his home at 78 Nash Road in Waldoboro.
An initial review of his computer shows hundreds of photos and videos of child pornography, according to a news release. That computer will now be analyzed by technicians at the Computer Crimes Unit.
Harkins is charged with possessing sexually explicit materials of someone under the age of 12.
He was taken to the Two Bridges Regional Jail in Wiscasset and was expected to be released on bail. His first court appearance will be February 25 in Wiscasset.
