Volunteers sought to place flags on veterans’ graves May 21
LINCOLNVILLE — As Memorial Day approaches, towns across Maine are readying for their varying ways to pay respect. Many hold parades, concluding at a single cemetery. Others make numerous stops along their parade routes to pay respects to various monuments honoring those who died while serving in the country’s armed forces.
Lincolnville is one of those towns preparing for the day of utmost respect on Monday, May 29. Volunteers are being sought to place flags on veterans graves in four cemeteries in town. Those willing to help are asked to show up at Lincolnville Community Library on Sunday, May 21, at 2 p.m.
According to Rosey Gerry, “No need to call or email, just show up. Cecil [Dennison] will meet us at the library and tell you how it works, and if a lot of help shows up, shouldn't take very long at all!”
